Queen Silvia of Sweden has confirmed there will be no 2010 wedding for her younger daughter Princess Madeleine and Jonas Bergstrom.
The couple's relationship is reported in the Swedish press to be in crisis, but the queen told daily newspaper Aftonbladet that "everything is fine".
She said: "I have to say that I have read some newspapers and want to say that Princess Madeleine is fine."
The royal matriarch said preparations for Crown Princess Victoria's nuptials were "very intense" and she felt that Madeleine was entitled to a "period of calm" before her own wedding.
A concrete date had not been set for the nuptials of Madeleine and her lawyer love, though they had said it would be either at the end of 2010 or start of 2011 when they announced their engagement in August last year.
The couple have not been seen together in public since December and are reported to be no longer living together – though these claims are yet to be confirmed.
