'I've become a breastfeeding expert': Nicolas Sarkozy on baby Giulia

It looks like father-of-four Nicolas Sarkozy is getting back into the swing of parenting little ones.

His partner Carla Bruni gave birth to baby girl Giulia in October, and the French president is getting used to baby routines again, with his older kids now all grown up.

While the new dad was chatting to young mothers at a family benefits agency in south west France, he revealed that Carla is breastfeeding.

“Carla is feeding the baby. I think it's much better for protecting against allergies and illnesses,” he was overheard saying.

“It does free men of blame because we don't have the problem of bottle-feeding. You don't have to get up at night, although out of solidarity, I do open one eye,” he added cheekily.

"But for the woman, it's both a joy and a kind of slavery. She is worried about not having enough milk.”

"I've become a bit of an expert, at my age!" he added.

Nicolas, 55, has three children - two sons, Pierre, 25, and Jean, 23 from his first marriage to Marie-Dominique Culioli, and a 13-year-old son Louis from his second marriage to Cecilia Ciganer-Albeniz.
