Princess Marie's darling daughter is the star of balcony celebrations

Cradled in the nook of her mother Princess Marie's arms, the newest member of Denmark's royal family gazes out at the celebrations taking place below her.

She was the centre of attention when the Scandinavian royals gathered on the balcony of Copenhagen's Christian IX's Palace to mark her grandmother Queen Margrethe's 72nd birthday.

The baby girl's parents Prince Joachim and his French wife couldn't have looked prouder as they showed her off along with her elder brothers Henrik, Nikolai and Felix.

In line with Danish tradition, the name of their little princess will be revealed when she is christened in May

The touching family scene was completed by Joachim's brother Crown Prince Frederik and his glamorous wife Mary.

As their two eldest children Christian and Isabella waved to crowds, one-year-old twins Josephine and Vincent got a lift from mum and dad to take a peek at the excited crowds gathered below.
