Forgotten something? David Cameron accidentally leaves his little girl behind

With the nation's problems on his mind, David Cameron can be forgiven for being preoccupied.

That, no doubt, explains a recent mishap when the Prime Minister and his wife Samantha accidentally left their eight-year-old daughter Nancy behind after a pub lunch.

The couple left in separate cars and each assumed that their little girl was with the other when she was actually still in the Ladies.

After realising they had taken their eye off the ball, the couple rushed back to find Nancy, pictured above cuddling her dad in an official shot released in 2009, being comforted by staff at Buckinghamshire's Plough Inn.

"The Prime Minister and Samantha were distraught when they realised Nancy wasn't with them," a Downing Street spokesman said.

"Thankfully, when they phoned the pub she was there safe and well. The Prime Minister went down straight away to get her."

The incident, which happened a couple of months ago, is only thought to have lasted fifteen minutes.

Staff knew who their little charge was but had to patiently wait until the Camerons got in touch themselves.

"It's not like you can look up David Cameron in the phone book and then ring to say, 'You’ve left your daughter behind'" a worker joked to The Sun.

Despite their little setback, the politician and his wife have a reputation as being hands on parents.

Samantha famously only works two days a week so she can enjoy quality time with Nancy and her two other children.
