The beginning of the year is a time for celebration in Monaco; Princess Charlene of Monaco is uncorking the champagne to celebrate her birthday, just two days after her sister-in-law, Princess Caroline enjoyed her 56th birthday on January, 23. The blonde royal turns 35 on January 25, and as the wife of one of Europe's reigning sovereigns, the stage is set for a thoroughly regal celebration, orchestrated by Prince Albert of Monaco.
Since Albert and Charlene's wedding into the Grimaldi clan in 2011, the bewitching bride has evoked the golden age glamour established by the municipality's late matriarch, Grace Kelly. The style and easy demeanour of Her Serene Highness are a winning formula which have stood her in good stead as First Lady of Monaco. Turning 35 will provide an opportunity for much future gazing, an activity which will doubtless lead to the vision of Charlene and Albert's first child together. In an interview broadcast before their lavish nuptials, the former Olympic swimmer made her feelings on the topic clear, saying: "I personally want to have children. I love children, and I simply can't wait to have a family of my own." As Charlene blows out her candles and looks to the future, HELLO! Online relives 35 years in the making of a princess.
