Margaret Thatcher's only grandchildren have arrived in the UK ahead of the former PM's funeral on Wednesday. Michael, 24, and Amanda, 19, attended a photo call with their father Sir Mark Thatcher and his wife Sarah. The youngsters are Mark's children from his first marriage to Diane Beckett. It was Baroness Thatcher's express wish that both her current and previous daughter-in-laws attend her funeral.

Michael and Amanda, who live in the US with their mother, both share more than a passing resemblance to their late grandmother. A friend of the siblings recently told The Telegraph, "They're grieving, but they are also very moved by all the outpouring of emotion around the world." On Wednesday, the Thatcher family will be joined by an array of figures from all walks of public life at the politician's ceremonial funeral. The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and top military personnel associated with the former PM's time in office have all been confirmed. Preperations are now underway for the ceremony, which will take place at St Paul's Cathedral. More than 700 members of the Armed Forces carried out a full dress rehearsal in the early hours of Monday morning. As dawn broke over the deserted London streets, pallbearers could be seen carrying a Union Jack-draped coffin into the cathedral.
