Queen Máxima of the Netherlands looked glamorous in gold as she arrived at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo, Japan with her husband King Willem-Alexander.

The Dutch monarchs, who were attending a state banquet held in their honour by Japanese hosts Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko, had just kicked off their six-day tour of the country.

Showing all signs of joy and excitement, the gala looked to be a success, with the royal party revelling in an evening of toasts, laughter and lavish courses.
