Crown Princess Letizia of Spain led the glamorous brigade of royal ladies that attended the investiture of the new King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands. The brunette was the epitome of elegance in a pale blue, lace gown with sheer sleeves. The simple yet stunning creation was by Varela and she teamed it with steel and glass microbeads, strappy heels from Margriet and a hat by Maria Nieto. The ladies seemed to have colour-coordinated, with Princess Victoria of Sweden, Princess Mary of Denmark, Princess Masako of Japan and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, all stepping out in pale hues.

Victoria channelled laidback chic in a flesh-coloured dress that perfectly complemented her tanned skin. A keyhole cutout added another element to the block-coloured number. Mary wore a white dress, injected with a splash of colour in the form of a floral panel around her waist and a powder-blue sash. Pale blue was a common theme, with Camilla also sporting the hue. She looked elegant in a long, coatdress that featured subtle pleats. The look was topped off with the same feather blue hat that she wore to Peter and Autumn Phillips' wedding.

Masako, who is on her first official overseas trip since she became ill a decade ago, wowed in white as she accompanied her husband Crown Prince Naruhito.Crown Princess Mathilde of Belgium injected some colour into the proceedings in a candy pink dress, while Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway's pale cream dress was decorated with a blue pattern.
