William and Harry were both dressed down in jeans and shirts, while Kate wore a smart pair of skinny jeans, her trusty wedges, and a blazer. The royal trio – who are all avid sports fans – will also attend the Games on Tuesday, and other sports they will have a choice of watching include athletics, badminton, hockey, lawn bowls, netball, shooting, squash, swimming, table tennis and weightlifting.

The Duke and Duchess weren't the first royals to attend this year's Commonwealth Games. The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Charles and his wife the Duchess of Cornwall, and the Countess of Wessex and Prince Edward were all in attendance for the opening ceremony, held last week.

The 20th Commonwealth Games opened in style with a spectacular ceremony featuring fireworks, 41 Scottish terriers, a giant haggis, golf clubs, and a live performance from Rod Stewart.William and Kate's trip to Scotland comes after a weekend in Batcombe, Somerset, where the couple attended a wedding on Saturday.

For the occasion Kate recycled one of her floral Jenny Packham dresses, which she had previously worn to watch William play polo in Santa Barbara as part of their USA and Canada tour in 2011. The couple were no doubt the talk of Batcombe, which is a village and civil parish in the Mendip District of Somerset, England. The parish has a population of 439, and it is likely locals would have been keeping up with the festivities surrounding George's birthday last week, when the royal family gathered at William and Kate's home for a low-key afternoon tea.
