Princess Charlotte will be baptised in front of a select group of family and invited guests on Sunday. All eyes will be on Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton, as they make their first public appearance as a family of four with their baby daughter and the adorable Prince George.

Other members of the royal family confirmed to attend the service at St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham include the Queen and Prince Philip. It is believed the christening date was selected specifically to take place before Her Majesty heads to Balmoral for her annual summer holiday.

Charlotte's grandfather Prince Charles will attend with the Duchess of Cornwall, while Kate's parents Michael and Carole Middleton will also join the family occasion. Other invitees have not been confirmed, but it is expected that Kate's siblings Pippa Middleton and James Middleton will also attend.

Noticeably absent will be Prince Harry, who will unfortunately miss the service due to his three-month visit to Africa to work on conservation projects.

Expected to join the family is Prince George's nanny Maria Teresa Turrion Borrello. The Spanish nanny has formed a strong bond with the family over the last two years and as revealed by HELLO! Online, bought the outfits that Princess Charlotte wore for her first public appearance and her first official portraits with her big brother.

It has not yet been revealed who will act as godparents to the Princess, who was born on 2 May. There has been much speculation about who will be given the honour, with Pippa Middleton, Princess Beatrice and her sister Eugenie listed among the possible candidates.

Prince Harry and William's cousin Peter Phillips have also been tipped as potential godfathers for Charlotte, but the names are not expected to be released until a day or two before the christening.

It was announced on Monday that William and Kate have also invited members of the public to join the celebrations. A statement released by Kensington Palace said that the royal couple have asked for the paddock outside the church to be opened to well-wishers so they can greet the family before and after the service.

The statement said: "The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be pleased to welcome well-wishers into the paddock outside the church. The Duke and Duchess are hugely grateful for the warm wishes they have received since Princess Charlotte's birth – many of them from local people in Norfolk – and are delighted the paddock can be opened on the day of the christening."
