Prince George's second birthday celebrations involved a trip to the beach with his doting grandmother Carole Middleton. Before his fun-filled family party, the two-year-old joined his grandma and pet dog Lupo for a morning at the beach in Norfolk.

The pair were seen holding hands while paddling in the sea before the playful Prince dug a hole in the sand using a bucket and spade. George looked adorable as ever wearing a navy padded jacket and blue shorts, and Carole couldn't resist taking a few photos of her grandson as he played in the sand.

Carole and George were mostly unrecognised during their morning at the beach, with a couple pictured seemingly oblivious that they were walking past the future King.

Following their morning out, the pair returned to Anmer Hall, the family home where George lives with his parents Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton, and his three-month-old sister Princess Charlotte.

The family were later joined by more guests including Prince Philip and about a dozen youngsters for Prince George's second birthday celebrations on 22 July.

The young Prince often enjoys days out with his grandmother Carole, and was spotted visiting Bucklebury Farm Park petting zoo with her in June.

Carole isn't the only family member who has been taking care of the youngster while his parents have their hands full with his baby sister. Prince Charles has been spending time with George in the garden of his Highgrove estate, where they planted two new trees together.

It recently emerged that Charles has also restored Prince William's beloved childhood tree house to its former glory for George to enjoy. In addition, the 66-year-old has installed an incredible artisan shepherd's hut on the edge of his wildflower meadow with his grandson in mind.
