Princess Charlotte turns 6 months old: All we know about the young royal

Share this:

It is six months since Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton, welcomed their daughter Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana into the world. As the couple quietly adjust to life with their baby girl and her brother Prince George at their country retreat Anmer Hall, we take a look back at life for the fourth-in-line to the British throne so far.

Princess Charlotte was born in the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital, London at 8.34am on 2 May 2015, weighing 8lbs 3oz. After spending a few hours in the hospital with her doting parents, Charlotte's big brother Prince George was brought to meet her for the very first time in a short visit.

Less than ten hours after her birth, the tiny Princess of Cambridge made her first official appearance when William and Kate stepped out to greet the waiting press and return home to Kensington Palace with their baby daughter. Swaddled in a white G. Hurt & Son blanket and wearing a little bonnet, it was the world's first glimpse at the newest addition to the royal family.

It was announced on Monday 4 May that the couple had decided to name their daughter Charlotte Elizabeth Diana – a fitting way to pay tribute to William's late mother Diana, Princess of Wales. After receiving a visit from the Queen at Kensington Palace, the royal couple relocated to their Norfolkshire residence Anmer Hall to spend time with their two children away from the public eye.

While little has been seen of the baby girl in public, her family are clearly smitten; Charlotte's grandfather Prince Charles described her as "very beautiful", echoing the sentiments of Prince Harry who said his niece was "absolutely beautiful".

The baby Princess also won the heart of her big brother Prince George, who planted a kiss on his sister's head in the first official photos of the siblings captured by their proud mum Kate in June.

After a couple of months out of the spotlight, the Cambridges made their first public appearance as a family of four at Princess Charlotte's christening on 5 July. The Princess wore the same lace christening gown that George had worn in 2013, and was surrounded by close family and her five godparents for the intimate service at St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham.

It was a special day for the family and royal fans alike, who gathered outside the church to get a glimpse at the royals. The occasion was captured by photographer to the stars Mario Testino, with four official photographs later released to the public showing a two-month-old Princess Charlotte alongside her parents and other family members.

In the four months that have passed since her christening, Princess Charlotte has not been seen in public. However her proud dad has spoken a couple of times about his daughter's progress, describing her as very "ladylike" and his "little joy of heaven".

Charlotte continues to grow up away from the public eye at Anmer Hall, with the next public glimpse at the youngest royal expected to be with the release of an official photo ahead of her very first Christmas in December.
