Royal round up: the Queen's 90th birthday, a Swedish royal baby, Prince George's first stamp and more...

It was perhaps the defining moment of their India and Bhutan royal tour. On Saturday Prince William and Kate visited the Taj Mahal and surprised fans by recreating the exact same pose as Princess Diana.

The couple sat in the same spot where the late Princess had her iconic photograph taken.

"I hope you've got the symmetry right, Arthur," the Duke even joked to veteran royal photographer Arthur Edwards, who was among those who had photographed Diana in the nineties.

An aide later explained that William and Kate wanted to pose on the bench, now nicknamed Lady Di's chair, because it was what "all tourists do when visiting the Taj Mahal".

The Queen wasn't the only royal to celebrate her birthday this past week. Her distant relative Queen Margrethe II of Denmark turned 76 on Saturday and in keeping with tradition, the monarch greeted well-wishers from the palace balcony in Copenhagen.

Margrethe was joined by her adoring family, including her eight gorgeous grandchildren who smiled and waved to crowds below.

It was a love match for Prince Albert of Monaco and his wife Princess Charlene as they attended the Monte-Carlo Masters final on Sunday.

The couple showed a rare display of public affection while seated in the VIP box, with Albert kissing the top of his wife's head as she leant into him.

The pair later congratulated Rafael Nadal in person as they joined the champion – and his silver trophy – on court after the tournament.

On Tuesday 19 April at 6:25pm, Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philip of Sweden welcomed their first child. Sofia delivered a bouncing baby boy at Danderyd hospital in Stockholm.

According to a statement from the palace, Carl was present during the birth and both mother and son are in "good health."

A couple of days later King Carl XVI Gustaf announced that his new grandson is called Prince Alexander Erik Hubertus Bertil, Duke of Södermanland.

The force was strong with Princes William and Harry during their access all areas tour of the Star Wars film set on Tuesday. The royal brothers explored the backstage area at Pinewood Studios and even showed off their sibling rivalry with a playful lightsaber duel.

While William brandished a white lightsaber, his brother Harry's weapon turned red, prompting him to ask: "Why do I always have to be the baddy?" Nonetheless he continued in his best menacing voice: "Come on, let's dance."

Harry and William, who admitting to being a "total geek" when it comes to Star Wars, were shown around by breakout star Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Prince George starred in a new commemorative stamp released by the Royal Mail on Wednesday, ahead of the Queen's 90th birthday.

The two-year-old held hands with his father Prince William in the family portrait, which also featured the Queen and Prince Charles to showcase four generations of the House of Windsor.

The image was taken in the White Drawing Room at Buckingham Palace in summer 2015 by photographer Ranald Mackenhie.

Posing with her youngest great-grandchild Princess Charlotte on her lap, and surrounded by her adorable family members, the Queen was the picture of pride and happiness in a new photo released by the palace.

The portrait was one of three that were unveiled to mark Her Majesty's 90th birthday on Thursday.

A second portrait showed the Queen with her second child and only daughter Princess Anne, while a third showed Her Majesty walking in the grounds of Windsor Castle with her beloved corgis and dorgis.

The pictures were taken by celebrity photographer Annie Liebovitz shortly after Easter.

Her actual birthday was marked with a special walkabout in Windsor, where the Queen, joined by Prince Philip, was met by rapturous cheers and applause and more than one rendition of Happy Birthday.

Her Majesty carried out two engagements on the day – the first to open a new walkway and the second to light a beacon.

The day was rounded off with a prívate dinner at Windsor, hosted by her eldest child Prince Charles.

On the same day that the Queen turned 90, Denmark was celebrating its own royal birthday. Princess Isabella, Crown Princess Mary and Crown Prince Frederik's daughter, marked her ninth birthday.

Her proud mum Mary turned photographer especially for the occasion and took three photographs of Isabella, who looks pretty in a cream top and bronze skirt.

The Queen and Prince Philip had special guests arrive at Windsor on Friday – the Obamas. The royals treated the US President Barack and First Lady Michelle to a private luncheon, the day after the Queen celebrated her 90th birthday.

Prince Philip was more than happy to act as chauffeur, and drove the group back to the castle after the Obamas' helicopter touched down in the grounds of the Berkshire estate.
