This week the world saw another side of the Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton, as new photos of the royal were published in Vogue magazine. Two of the stunning images from the photoshoot have been added to the Vogue 100: A Century of Style exhibit at the National Portrait Gallery – and on Wednesday Kate had the chance to view the pictures in person.

The Duchess was given a private tour and spent a few minutes taking in her photographs. She was no doubt thrilled to see the enlarged portraits hanging up on the walls of one of London's most famous museums and chatted to British photographer Josh Olins, who took the pictures.

Recalling the shoot, which took place in a field in Norfolk in January, Kate told the photographer: "It was such a lovely moment, a beautiful end to the day. It didn't seem like January."

She added of the location: "We were very exposed up there as well."

As she requested of Josh, the photos reflect a rarely-seen element of Kate's private life. The no-frills snapshots show the Duchess dressed down in her off-duty clothing of choice, which includes jeans, shirts and T-shirts.

In contrast, for Wednesday's engagement, Kate wore a recycled pink Alexander McQueen number she had previously worn in 2014. She paired the creation with the Riva Cluster Bib from Monica Vinader along with the Riva Cluster earrings.

Kate famously visited the central London venue in January 2013 to view her first ever official portrait. She was accompanied by her husband Prince William, and although she had announced her pregnancy the month before, Kate strategically hid her baby bump.

The Duchess told artist Paul Emsley that the painting he had done of her was "brilliant, amazing, absolutely brilliant".

As patron, Kate has visited the museum on numerous occasions. The history of art graduate has attended charity galas, with the most recent one taking place in February 2014, when Kate wore an exquisite Jenny Packham gown.
