The Swedish royal palace has announced Prince Oscar's godparents ahead of the baby's christening on Friday. According to a statement, Crown Princess Victoria and her husband Prince Daniel have asked Victoria's younger sister Princess Madeleine to act as a godmother, as well as Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway.

Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark, who has four children with Crown Princess Mary, will act as a godfather.

Victoria and Daniel have also called on Hans Astrom and Oscar Magnuson, both from Sweden, to take up the role. Hans is an insurance employee and a good friend of Daniel's, while Oscar is a long-time friend of the royals and King Carl XVI Gustaf.

They will be joined by Madeleine and Chris' children Princess Leonore, two, and 11-month-old Prince Nicolas, and Victoria and Daniel's four-year-old daughter Estelle.

Carl Philip and Sofia's son Prince Alexander, who was born in April, will not be making an appearance.

The christening will take place in the royal chapel of the royal palace on Friday 27 May. As expected, the ceremony will be steeped in tradition.

Baby Oscar, who was born on 2 March and is third-in-line to the Swedish throne, will be baptised in the same dress that his big sister Estelle and older cousins Leonore and Nicolas all wore. Victoria, Carl Philip and Madeleine also donned the christening gown.
