The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh seen at home in new portrait

A new portrait of the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh has been released which offers a rare glimpse of the couple at their home, Windsor Castle. The image is one of a series of portraits captured by photographer Annie Leibovitz in March 2016 to mark the Queen's 90th birthday, and features in the summer issue of Vanity Fair magazine.

Taken in what appears to be the family sitting room, the photo shows the Queen and Prince Philip sitting side by side on a sofa, while a fire roars in the background. Philip, who turns 95 in June, looks smart in a suit and tie, and places his arm around his wife as they smile at the camera.

Her Majesty is wearing the same pink cardigan and checked skirt as seen in two of the other official portraits which were released in April, suggesting all four images were taken on the same day.

Three official portraits were previously released to mark the Queen's 90th birthday

Three official portraits were released to coincide with the Queen's milestone birthday in April, which included a shot of Her Majesty with her daughter Princess Anne, along with a portrait of the monarch surrounded by her beloved corgis.

Perhaps the most memorable image is one that sees her joined by her youngest family members including Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Mia Tindall, who stole the spotlight by holding up her great-grandmother's handbag.

Mia's dad Mike Tindall has since revealed that the moment was completely unplanned, explaining on Good Morning Britain: "The moment with Mia was completely spontaneous, it was not staged at all. She just picked up her great-granny's handbag and that was it."
