The Queen's cousin, the Duke of Kent, was among the guests in the Royal Box on the opening day of the Wimbledon tennis tournament on Monday.

The 85-year-old looked visibly moved as the crowd thanked and applauded those who have played an important role in the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, some of whom were invited in the Royal Box.

The Duke, who accompanied the Queen at Trooping the Colour in Windsor earlier this month, is president of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, and is a regular at Wimbledon every year.

He was sat next to British racing legend and the Queen's close friend, Sir Jackie Stewart.
