A teenager from Leeds has set out on the road to stardom, after his astounding vocal talents helped a video he posted of himself doing a 'virtual duet' with Jessie J racked up over nine million hits.
Tom Bleasby, 18, had made use of a video Jessie had recorded for Smule's Sing! Karaoke app of herself singing her hit Flashlight, leaving room for other singers to show off their skills.
After giving it his all, Tom posted his effort on Facebook on May 23 – and the internet went crazy for it. The video came to the attention of Jessie herself, who reposted it on her own Facebook account, and Tom has reportedly since been approached by record labels.
According to Teen Vogue the talented lad has even been contacted by a producer who has worked with Beyoncé Knowles.
"I was so overwhelmed with the kind words from everyone," Tom told Teen Vogue. "My inbox was blowing up with messages of support. I'm truly thankful for every single person who took their time to watch the video."
Now the talented youngster, who has never had a singing lesson, is set on following his dream of forging a career in music. Fans can check out his Vine and YouTube channels, which feature covers of other songs, including My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion.
After his life-changing viral experience, Tom offered some advice for others who are artistically inclined.
"Dear artistic people, get yourself out there!" he urged. "Share your passion, don’t hide it. Don't wait for success – find it! You have what it takes."
