While the prospect of coming face to face with Santa Claus would put most children into a frenzy, the experience left little Zeke Walters a little sleepy. The six-month-old from Evansville, Indiana fell asleep while waiting in line to meet Father Christmas at his local shopping centre – resulting in the most adorable series of photos.
Instead of waking the youngster up, Santa told Zeke's father Donnie Walters to let him keep sleeping throughout the photo shoot. With baby Zeke snoozing soundly by his side, St Nick also pretended to sleep with a copy of The Night Before Christmas lay unfinished next to them both.
Donnie Walters' son Zeke fell asleep while waiting to meet Santa Claus
After taking a few pictures of the sweet scene, Donnie shared the images to his Facebook page Donnie's Daddy Day Care – where he gives updates on his experiences as a stay-at-home dad.
"I can't believe how adorable our son's pictures with Santa came out," Donnie wrote. "After falling asleep in line waiting, Santa asked us not to wake him and the outcome was the cutest thing I've ever seen."
Since being shared on Thursday, the images have received over 450,000 times and been shared by over 242,000 people – something which has unsurprisingly left Donnie stunned.
Zeke also slept through his second meeting with Santa
The proud father took Zeke back to meet Santa Claus for a second time on Sunday and share the exciting news, but once again the baby slept soundly through their meeting, resulting in more sweet photos of Santa watching over him in his pushchair.
Donnie wrote: "Zeke wanted to let Santa know their pictures have gone viral. Don't you know he was asleep again! So mommy and daddy told Santa the news!"
As for why he can't keep his eyes open during his meetings with Father Christmas? One Facebook user has got the answer: "He's a smart baby. Everyone knows that Santa visits when you're tucked in bed fast asleep."
