She failed her hearing test at the hospital and at first her parents Cori and Kalonda Cloyd thought it was a glitch in the system. The couple were then asked to bring their daughter back into the hospital for more tests.
Hesitant for their little girl, they brought her back in but Corlena failed the test again at two months old.

After her cochlear implants were fitted, she was able to hear for the first time, and the different sounds from clapping to clucking astounded her. A heart-warming video of baby Corlena was uploaded on YouTube and has won the hearts of many followers.
"You're going to get louder, that's what's going to happen," a sound therapist tells the adorable little girl. "Do you like your hearing aids? Do you like the way they sound?"
Corlena, who is bouncing up and down on her relative's lap, squeals in delight. The expression on her face is priceless as she looks around the room, ecstatic at hearing all the different sounds.

"Did you hear mummy? Yeah, you did, you heard mama. You look so cute," says the therapist.
Corlena's grandmother, who is sitting to her side, makes a clicking sound with her mouth, while another lady grabs her attention by clapping.
"Yeah, yeah you heard it," says the therapist.
