Police in the Netherlands invited 99-year-old Annie to spend time in a prison cell after her niece asked them to help fulfil her bucket list - and the story went viral!
For most, spending time in prison is nothing short of a nightmare, but for this smiling 99-year-old, one of her lifelong dreams had finally come true. Annie, from the Netherlands couldn’t have looked more happy as she posed with handcuffs while sitting in a police cell. Helping her aunt tick off her bucket list wish of spending time in prison, Annie’s kind-hearted niece took it upon herself to help cross the request off – in a way which meant her aunt didn’t actually have to commit any crimes in order to be there for good! Talking to the BBC, a police officer involved in arranging Annie’s trip to prison said: “Her niece came to use with this request. When she was reporting a crime, she told the police officer about Annie’s ‘bucket list’”.

Unsurprisingly, the sweet photos of Annie beaming with delight - which were posted by Politie Nijmegen-Zuid on their Facebook page, have proved popular with users from all around the world. Over 4,000 users have liked it since the photos were uploaded five days ago – which no doubt will have added to Annie’s special memory.

Captioning the image, the police described it as a “day to remember”, explaining that a police officer called Martin allowed for Annie to sit in a police cell with handcuffs on so she could experience what it felt like. Facebook fans found the photos both uplifting and funny, with one writing: “Good on the police officer’s a happy lady – made me smile”, while another joked: “You are no on until you go to jail. Great job Auntie!”
