Athina and husband Doda compete in Italy

Marriage clearly suits newlywed heiress Athina Onassis de Miranda, who is busy pursuing her equestrian ambitions in picturesque Tuscany.

With her flattering blonde-highlighted locks and svelte figure, the 21-year-old, who has her heart set on competing in the 2008 Greek Olympic team, was looking more on form than ever as she attended the Toscana Tour riding event this week.

Although she and her Brazilian husband Alvaro Alfonso de Miranda Neto, aka Doda, share an apartment in Sao Paulo, the couple are currently dividing their time between various European countries, where they are training and competing.

While Aristotle Onassis' only grandchild is clearly determined to put in the hard work required to land her a place at the 2008 Games, she may also find time to enjoy the stunning sights offered by this picturesque corner of Italy.

With its soaring peaks, glorious coastline and fascinating architectual heritage Tuscany is a popular destination among both celebs – Sting is just one of a host of famous names to own property in the region - and ordinary Brits.

It encompasses the artistic gem of Florence, with its museums, cathedral and historical buildings; Pisa, famous for its leaning tower; and ancient Etruscan and Roman ruins as well as myriad medieval villages.
