Inside New York's celebrity hotspots: discover the A-list nightlife

Designers from around the world put the finishing touches to their cutting edge collections, supermodels prepare to strut their stuff on the runway, and fashionistas get ready to take their front row seat for the opening of New York Fashion Week on Thursday.

And as the catwalk warms up for the latest creations from the likes of Victoria Beckham and Marc Jacobs, as well as John Galliano's return to fashion with his collection for Oscar de la Renta, the Big Apple's hotspots open their doors to the starry crowd in town.

The massive event – that brings 100,000 people to Lincoln Centre for eight days of style and spectacle – will see more than 75 designers unveil their new collections for the first time.

And with everyone from celebrities to supermodels, fashionistas to photographers – it's not only the runway that will be set alight with the fashion glitterati.

New York's exclusive social scene will also come alive for the extravaganza when A-listers take the glitz and glam of the runway to after-parties across the capital, hosted by the world's top designers.

If you didn't get an invite this season, stay close to the action by taking a peek at where the celebrities will be headed come nightfall. People watch over a cocktail beside Lincoln Centre, dine with fashion designers at Indochino, or dance into the night at exclusive club Electric Room, where the likes of Marc Jacobs, L'Wren Scott and Marchesa have all chosen to host parties.

With front row regulars like Olivia Palermo, fashion duo Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, actresses Uma Thurman and Diane Kruger, more well-heeled celebs are expected for Autumn/Winter 2013.
