Kate Moss has conquered the world of fashion, and now the 41-year-old has put her style credentials to use beyond the catwalk by embarking on the interior design of the Cotswolds country house owned by her good friends, property guru John Hitchcox and his wife Phoebe.
The five-bedroom "barnhouse" boasting a spacious outdoor entertaining deck, floor-to-ceiling windows, a private pool and large retractable doors is, according to Kate, "a luxurious haven in the woods, a perfect place to escape with family and friends." A fan of the Oxfordshire region, Kate owns her own house nearby.
Her friends and owners of the secluded retreat are delighted with the result. "Kate has done a great job," Phoebe tells HELLO! magazine exclusively in this week’s issue. "She has created a warm family feel with a little bit of rock’n’roll thrown in. It's a modern take on the Cotswolds."
The property, set within 25 acres of silver birch, elm and beech trees at the Lakes at Yoo, is adorned throughout by bespoke furnishings crafted especially by David Haddock, the West Country-based local craftsman who built Kate's personal dressing room at her London home.
Think a mirrored four-poster bed in the master bedroom, a TV cabinet featuring a silver thunderbolt paying homage to David Bowie and a custom-built dining table with benches.
Vintage comforts are fused with pop-culture chic features such as a log burner centrepiece alongside artwork by the likes of Damien Hirst and Chris Levine, as well as pieces from Kate’s own collaborations with Jake and Dinos Chapman and Chris Allen and pictures of Kate herself – all hand-picked by the model.
The master bedroom promises to be a "luxury hideaway" and the kitchen aims to be the heart of the home, with an open-plan layout extended into the living space, sofas made from plush deep velvet, and flooring courtesy of Chaunceys Timber Flooring.
While the world is accustomed to seeing the 41-year-old strut her stuff on the runway, Phoebe explains that Kate is actually "very domesticated" and has a "very natural side to her". Her husband John, owner of the architecture and design company Yoo which is behind the Lakes, adds, "That's why she loves the country… She can be normal."
