55 per cent rise in hostel bookings for royal wedding weekend

The excitement surrounding the wedding has spread far and wide – and it seems people the world over are flocking to London to celebrate the nuptials in the same country as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Generator London, Europe's design-led hostel brand, announced that bookings on the weekend of the royal wedding are up by 55 per cent from last year, proving that the wedding is bringing a major tourism boost to London.

Interestingly, data released by the site shows that 25 per cent of bookings are from customers based in the UK, with Brits wanting to let their hair down and celebrate in style during the wedding of the year.

The data also shows the countries that most of the bookings originate from – sales of beds for to stay in Generator London over the wedding weekend are up by 100 per cent for American customers compared to last year, 120 per cent for Canada, 170 per cent for France and 126 per cent from Germany.

To celebrate one of the biggest British events in this year's calendar, Generator Hostels are offering couples named 'Harry and Meghan' the chance to win a free night's stay in any of their hostels around Europe.
