The 72nd Golden Globe Awards were handed out in Hollywood's highest profile dinner of the year on Sunday evening. We take a look at The Beverly Hilton Hotel – the famous venue where all the glitzy action took place. The Beverly Hilton Hotel has hosted Hollywood's elite since its doors were opened in 1955 by distinguished hotelier Conrad Hilton, when guests were greeted by uniformed trumpeters and pink-painted elephants guided by ladies in bathing suits.

A favourite of Cary Grant, the four-star hotel hosted a one-time-only tribute to the actor in 1988 which was attended by Princess Grace Kelly, Frank Sinatra and Liza Minnelli. In 2011, Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton, made their first stop of their United States tour here. Now, the iconic Beverly Hills landmark boasts more than 100 red carpet events each year, including the Daytime Emmy Awards, the Oscar nominees luncheon, the People Magazine Awards, and the Golden Globes.

Nestled at the crossroads of the iconic Wilshire and Santa Monica Boulevards, the property features 569 guest rooms designed to evoke the best of relaxed Californian living, including 101 suites with panoramic city vistas and nine private luxury suites within The Penthouse Collection.

The hotel's famed Aqua Star Pool is Beverly Hills' largest pool and over the years has played host to numerous photo and film shoots. Upon winning a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress for Gia, Angelina Jolie famously jumped into the pool post-show – in her gown.
