The 5-star beachside Rosewood Mayakoba is situated in Mexico's Riviera Maya

As charming as it is luxurious, Rosewood Mayakoba takes several unique trademarks from its "big sister", Rosewood's Las Ventanas al Paraiso on Mexico's west coast, where Cindy Crawford once spent Christmas.Think welcome trays of fine tequila in every room, lavish accommodations (130 beach and lagoon-facing rooms and villas), and an amazing spa, which coincidentally sits on a private island and is inspired by Mayan traditions, complete with an authentic Temazcal (Mayan steam bath).

Set in the heart of a 1,600-acre luxury resort enclave along a mile of pristine Caribbean sand in the Riviera Maya surrounded by a verdant jungle, Rosewood Mayakoba is a stone's throw from the world famous ancient ruins of Tulum, the only Mayan city built on the coast, as well as pyramids and lost cities, such as Chichen Itza and Coba.

When you're not discovering the heart of Mayan civilization, check out the world's second largest coral reef, which parallels the entire coast. Or for the adventurous – Ashton Kutcher, for example – watersports including sport fishing, diving and snorkeling are all close at hand.

Out of the water, guests can enjoy jungle adventures, zip lines, wildlife viewing, and a range of unique interactive eco-theme parks. While in the region, Beatrice and Dave may well have taken a dip in one of the freshwater cenotes – sinkholes in the limestone terrain – that make for impossibly attractive swimming holes and dot the landscape.

While Mayan ruins await nearby, ocean views and a sparkling swimming pool would also be enticing

Back at the resort, when guests have soaked up the sunshine by the pool and had a dip in the Caribbean sea, they can head to the Agave Azul Sushi and Tequila Bar for weekly tequila tastings…
