We're all guilty of taking to Instagram when on holiday to share photos of our adventures and give everyone back home serious travel envy, whether you're relaxing on a white sandy beach or hitting the slopes against picture-perfect mountain backdrops.

However, there are some destinations which are proving increasingly popular for getting that Instagram-worthy photo and hashtagging to your heart's content. From the Eiffel Tower in Paris to Machu Picchu in Peru, CEWE Photoworld have revealed the world's top ten locations popular on Instagram for getting those wanderlust-inducing snaps…

1. Eiffel Tower, France

Taking the top spot is the iconic Parisian landmark, which counts the most hashtags and location check-ins with over three million users sharing photos of their visit to the monument. Initially built as a temporary exhibit for the 1889 World Fair, the Eiffel Tower continues to be a must-visit during any trip to France – and based in the City of Love, it's also a favourite for marriage proposals and romantic days out!

2. Big Ben, England

Brits looking to up their social media following won't need to go far, with Big Ben taking second place in the round-up. Beating out other historical UK landmarks from Stonehenge to Buckingham Palace, this world-famous clock continues to be a firm tourist go-to during a trip to London. Fun fact: Big Ben is actually the nickname for the Great Bell of the clock, but nowadays it's been extended to refer to the clock and tower at the end of the Palace of Westminster.
