Barack Obama has marked the end of his presidency by whisking wife Michelle away on a romantic getaway to the Caribbean. The couple spent a few days in Palm Spring first with daughters Sasha and Malia before heading off for some quality time together, pulling out all the stops for their well-deserved break and heading to Richard Branson's luxurious Necker Island.

It comes as no surprise that they've picked the tropical paradise for their first holiday together since the leaving the White House. Necker Island offers ultimate privacy and relaxation with accommodation allowing for no more than 34 guests at a time and a staff of 90 on-hand to help with your every need.

For the duration of their stay Barack and Michelle have reportedly opted for the Master Suite of the Great House, which is nestled amongst the island's white sandy beaches and crystalline blue waters.

Not only does the room boast incredible views of the breathtaking scenery, but it has a host of covetable amenities including a private hot tub, a kitchenette packed with delicious snacks and drinks, an ensuite bathroom and even three private terraces so you can soak up the sun undisturbed.

You don't need to be a former president of the United States to rent out the room, but you may need a similar budget, with a night in the Master Suite totalling £5,599 on HomeAway.co.uk.

As well as their luxurious suite, the couple will have access to the island's al fresco terraces and Caribbean beach hut restaurants, as well as the two freshwater infinity pools. The pair can also take part in a wide range of activities including watersports, tennis, spa treatments and even gym sessions – not to mention the custom list of daily activities organised by the staff.
