A theme park that has been dubbed the UK's Disneyland is tipped to open in just five years. London Paramount theme park is expected to open in summer 2022, with huge rides, themed areas and a castle to rival Disney's Magic Kingdom, which is sure to be a hit with families from around the world.

The new attraction will be built by Paramount Film Studios, who make Hollywood films including Anchorman, Zoolander and Mission Impossible. And while plans for the project will reportedly be officially submitted in November, new pictures have been released detailing what Paramount has designed for the theme park.

Despite its name, the attraction won't be based in London but will actually be built in Dartford, Kent. It will cover an 872-acre site on the Swanscombe Peninsula between Gravesend and Dartford, and will have an estimated 50 rides as well as a 2,000 seat theatre, hotels, restaurants and a nightclub. In comparison Walt Disney World in Florida covers a huge 27,258 acre site.

While there are currently no solid plans for what rides will be built, a series of themed zones have been developed by Paramount such as Port Paramount, Adventure Isle and Cartoon Circus. And while many rides will be themed around Paramount films, it has also been rumoured that there will also attractions inspired by Wallace and Gromit plus BBC shows.

There is currently nothing quite like the proposed theme park in the UK, and it is expected that up to 40,000 people will visit per day as a result. The site will have quick transport links to London, while developers are also said to be considering having a boat to take visitors to the park from the capital, which will serve as "part of the attraction". If plans are approved, building could begin in 2019, with the site opening three years later. Watch this space!
