Music, merriment and surprises for Olivia and Mark Watterson

Share this:

Olivia Bucknall and Mark Watterson united in a quintessentially British wedding, at the idyllic St Aldates Church in Oxford. Guests arrived in festive style aboard a vintage Leyland double-decker bus. Amongst them was an unexpected wedding gift – the couple were surprised by the appearance of close friends all the way from Australia who completed the day as bridesmaid and groomsman.

The beautiful bride Olivia was given away by her father in traditional style. Revered Charlie Cleverly, Rector at the Church and friend of the happy couple conducted a wonderful service filled with love and laughter. A chauffeur driven 1936 Armstrong Siddeley open-top then took the newlyweds to the reception. Chinese lanterns and fireworks lit up the celebrations – details inspired by a romantic trip to Thailand where Mark had popped the question.

Another surprise was in store for the couple, this time organised by Mark's mother, as they were serenaded by the groom's family and friends singing a line of The Monkey's "I'm a Believer". After delicious canapés and Champagne cocktails everyone wound down in bliss with wedding breakfast served in a beautifully decorated, ivory marquee outside The Old Rectory.

Olivia's 90-year-old grandfather took part in the wedding too, playing funk and soul tunes with the rest of the band as the wedding party danced the night away.
