Victoria Beckham pays unexpected birthday tribute to Nicola Peltz

It has been one seriously stylish birthday for Nicola Peltz – and we can't get enough. The actress, who turns 28 today, has been celebrating turning another year older to the max – think two-tiered unicorn cakes (yes, really) and extravagant dinner parties.

The newly-married Peltz-Beckhams opted to spend Christmas away from Victoria, David and the rest of the Beckham family fold this year – a hotly discussed subject. The Beckhams traditionally spend the festive season in their Cotswolds mansion, but Brooklyn and his wife Nicola decided to celebrate across the pond with the actress' family instead.

But clearly the extended family are still closer than ever if a sweet Instagram birthday tribute is anything to go by. Victoria shared a heartfelt Instagram post with her 30.5m followers in which she sent birthday wishes to her daughter-in-law. "Happy Birthday @NicolaAnnePeltzBeckham Hope you have a lovely day!!! X", she captioned her post.

The sweet throwback snap that accompanied her felicitations was a photo of the pair smiling at the camera after dinner. Emanating her trademark chic, Victoria looked elegant in a black sleeveless garment with a deep V plunging neckline. A perfectly manicured hand hid her mouth, but her richly defined eyes had a certain twinkle about them – implying that the evening had been full of laughs.

Nicola, on the other hand, was sporting her former blonde locks, looking radiant as she also covered her mouth to hide her giggles. The actress rocked a look that oozed summer sophistication, consisting of a yellow ruffle halter neck and statement gold hoops. The dress is super similar to one designed by Victoria Beckham that Nicola wore on the day that she got engaged to Brooklyn.

It seems that the mother-daughter-in-law duo won't be celebrating Nicola's 28th together in person, but the Welcome To Chippendales star certainly won't let that stop her from having a good time. In the run up to her big day the actress documented some of her celebrations which included Brooklyn hard at work in the kitchen, donning an apron that read "At your service, girls", as well as the actress sporting a gorgeous sheer black dress with dramatic 3D floral shoulder detailing.

28 has never looked better…
