Fashion and fantasy lovers rejoice. Dior has opened a seasonal café, just in time for Christmas

In honour of the friendship forged between the fashion house and Harrods over the past seventy years, Dior has inaugurated The Fabulous World of Dior, a spectacular immersive presentation which illuminates the hallowed halls of the legendary department store, and with it they have also brought a café as part of the fun.

The Dior Café resembles a festive Gingerbread House

Inspired by the Brothers Grimm's fairy-tale Hansel and Gretel, the gingerbread house-themed space, clad in warm toffee tones with white icing accents feels distinctively Dior. Located on the ground floor via Hans Road the DNA of the French couture-house is obvious through luxurious Toile de Jouy seating and utterly Insta-worthy tableware embellished with the maison's Cannage motif.

Naturellement the café serves French cuisine with a distinctly British twist, "Everything is deliciously Dior, from the roast heritage beef with black winter truffle and a red wine jus to the 72 per cent chocolate mousse merveilleux," Harrods explain in a statement on their website. The ode to British cuisine is more steeped in Dior’s heritage than you’d realise. It turns out eponymous designer Christian Dior was quite the anglophile, and the Dior Café at Harrods is a celebration of the designer’s love for Blighty. On Monsieur Dior's journey of culinary discovery, he often found delight in British cuisine and traditions, "There is no other country whose way of life pleases me more," he wrote in his memoirs, "I love the practices, the politeness, the architecture, and, of course, the food."

The maisons Toile De Jouy fabric takes centre stage at the café

Open from 9am to 9pm Monday to Saturday, and closing at 6pm on Sundays, you can easily stop in for a decadent breakfast with options including a smoked-salmon and caviar omelette or a selection of tres chic pastries. The lunch offerings are no less grand, think Cornish crab served with crisp green apple and Harissa-roasted butternut squash. If you're feeling extra fancy you can feast on the likes of Atlantic lobster Thermidor served with a zippy yuzu vinaigrette for dins.

Showstopping pattiseries lend a touch of the maison's French flair

Of course, it wouldn't be a London based café without biscuits and these ones are the perfect souvenir for the sartorially minded, gingerbread Saddle and Lady Dior bags as well as edible J'adore perfumes make the ideal gifts to take home.

But the ultimate Instagram flex? A Dior approved cup of chocolat chaud. Emily in Paris would approve.
