Much as it pains us to admit, the New Year's felicitations have reached a standstill and it is now time to return to the daily grind. One person who has wasted no time in recommencing her exercise routine after the festive fun is Kendall Jenner. The 27-year-old has already been spotted this week leaving a hot pilates studio in Los Angeles with fellow supermodel pal Hailey Bieber while sporting a chic, no-frills outfit that actually temporarily paused our gym-dread. No mean feat, let us assure you.

Kendall's workout look has an unmistakably retro feel about it – in fact, it felt strongly reminiscent of Princess Diana's iconic athleisure ensembles that continue to inspire contemporary gym-goers.

The roomy-fit jacket gave the upper half of her silhouette a slouchy, oversized feel, expertly accented with skin-tight classic black leggings from celeb-approved gymwear brand Alo.

Kendall's personal choice was a pair of light grey and silver sneakers by Nike, emblazoned with the sportswear giant's signature tick, with a spongy platform sole. She teamed her retro vibe trainers with crisp white tube socks – amounting to a footwear moment that royal style icon Princess Diana would have very much approved of.

Avid fans of the princess' superlative outfit game will know that she strongly favoured the graphic sweatshirt-cycling shorts combo in the late 1980s and early 1990s. We love how Kendall has switched things up with a relaxed-fit jacket, but both style icons are in agreement that the tube socks and chunky trainers are a match made in heaven.
