Fashion month has kicked off a day early thanks to legendary fashion designer Phoebe Philo who announced she is launching an eponymous label later this year.

After a long awaited announcement, the illustrious British designer shared an Instagram post this afternoon on a new account for her new brand.

She explained: “Our inaugural collection will be revealed and available on our website, phoebephilo.com, in September 2023.”

Philo was the creative director of French fashion houses Chloé (from 2001 - 2006) and most notably Celine, from 2008 - 2018. Hello! Fashion’s Natalie Salmon explained: “She eschewed logomania of the 2000’s and replaced it with a minimalist aesthetic, tonal colour palettes in muted shades and of course clean silhouettes and lines.”

She is responsible for creating some of Celine’s most coveted pieces on the planet, including the Celine ‘Luggage’ tote, the printed scarf and the Paddington handbag.

The social media post continued “We will be opening for registration in July 2023 and look forward to being back in touch then”. We look forward to it too, Phoebe.

What do we know about Phoebe Philo’s new brand?

Rumours of her label broke back in 2020, and in 2021 she told WWD that the pieces would be “rooted in exceptional quality and design,” (not that you’d ever doubt that from her).

From a brief statement that same year she said “Being in my studio and making once again has been both exciting and incredibly fulfilling”.

The statement continued: “I am very much looking forward to being back in touch with my audience and people everywhere. To be independent, to govern and experiment on my own terms is hugely significant to me”.

To say sartorial fanatics are excited in an understatement. The Instagram account has amassed 14,000 followers in less than an hour and the single post has already been inundated with comments. One user said “The Queen is back” whilst another said “The moment we’ve all been waiting for” and “FASHION IS BACK”.

2023 just got even better.
