One of Britain's most high-profile young couples have decided to go their separate ways after Be Kemeny announced her marriage to Jack Kidd was over. London society was largely taken by surprise by the news when the pretty heiress sent an e-mail to 200 friends and business associates revealing their seven-year relationship had broken down.

"Last night Jack told me that our marriage is over," she revealed in the online note. "My heart has been ripped out." The 40-year-old American, who has four young children with her estranged husband, went on to explain she would be moving back to her parents' home in South Carolina within a week. "Jack is happy to visit the children there," she said. "He hopes the children will not be too upset because they are young."

Be first met the handsome polo player, whose sisters Jodie and Jemma are well-known in the fashion industry, at a New Year's Eve party in Barbados six years ago. They were married six months later and went on to welcome four children, John, Jaden, Jack and little Jamie, who was born over the summer.

Thirty-three-year-old Jack has also confirmed the news of their split. "This is a very painful time in my life and for Be, of course," he said. "I am really sorry things have turned out this way. My marriage is in tatters but I think my children will be better off in the long term because it just wasn't a happy home for them."
