Michelle Obama bringing 'Glee' to White House Easter festivities
16 MARCH 2010
The Easter Bunny won't be the only special guest at the White House's annual Easter Egg Roll this year.
The First Lady also invited the cast of hit TV programme Glee to perform their songs at the event, a light-hearted race in which young children roll eggs across the White House lawn using spoons.
Michelle reportedly made the special invitation because she and her daughters, Malia, 11, and Sasha, 8, are fans of the show.
And the Glee
cast, who won this year's Golden Globe
for best musical or comedy television programme, couldn't be more thrilled.
"Excited is not really the word, I think over the frickin' moon is more the phrase," actor Cory Monteith said of the April 5 engagement.
US actress Diana Agron also said she was looking forward to the Easter Egg Roll, but reflected on its personal significance.
"For our generation this was something we'd never experienced—the enthusiasm, the pride, the determination, all of that," she said, referring to the 2008 election that Barack Obama won.
"To be with him and his family is going to be incredibly special."
These days, though, the cast has plenty of famous fans beyond the First Family.
creator Ryan Murphy recently revealed that Lady Gaga, who counts herself as a 'gleek', is planning to guest star in the second season.
Julia Roberts might make an appearance as well, said Ryan, who worked with the actress on her new film, Eat, Pray, Love
"I don’t know if Julia’s going to do it – maybe. But she loves the show.”
