Nine months after welcoming their beautiful baby boy into the world, Claire Sweeney and her partner have confirmed that they have split. In a statement to the Daily Mail, Claire and Daniel Reilly said: "Whilst we have decided not to remain together we are committed to bringing up our wonderful son and making sure we are great parents and supporting each other to achieve that."

The pair became engaged on Christmas Eve in 2012, with Daniel, who is 14 years Claire's junior presenting the former Brookside actress with a three-carat diamond ring in a romantic proposal.

They sadly split in 2014, before weeks later discovering that Claire was pregnant with their first child, baby Jax.

"Claire could not be happier," said Claire's agent, Jonathan Shalit, in a statement released at the time on behalf of the former Strictly Come Dancing contestant. "To be pregnant and starring in her own show in her home town of Liverpool is all her dreams come true at once."

Claire, who was starring in a play she co-wrote at the Liverpool Royal Court, echoed the sentiment in a twitter post, describing her happiness at the success of both her work and private life.

"Thrilled to say my show that I co-wrote Sex and the Suburbs has opened to rave reviews," she wrote. "But the BEST news is I'm 5 months pregnant!!"
