After nearly two decades on magazine covers and some well-publicised ups and downs, Kate Moss is still at the top of her mercurial profession. Influential US publication Forbes has put the Croydon-born beauty among the top three highest earning models in the world.

Plum job opportunities like designing a range for high street store Topshop meant that last year the waif-like 33-year-old pocketed £4.4 million. Kate came in second behind Leonardo DiCaprio's ex Gisele Bundchen, who in modelling terms is of a different generation at 26.

The body from Brazil took home £16.2 million after starring in campaigns for the likes of Dolce & Gabbana and Roberto Cavalli. Gisele, who has a non-identical twin sister, has enjoyed a stellar catwalk career since reportedly being discovered by a talent scout as she tucked into a hamburger with friends at McDonalds.

In third place was statuesque German supermodel Heidi Klum with earnings of £3.9 million. The wife of singer Seal - who gave birth to her third child last November - models lingerie for Victoria's Secret as well as presenting hit reality TV programme Project Runway.
