Royalty, heroes of the sporting world and Hollywood beauties dropped everything to grace a charity fashion show when Naomi Campbell called on the enviable power of her contacts book.
Backstage the atmosphere was democratic with Princess Beatrice and her mother, the Duchess of York waiting patiently to have their hair and makeup attended to by teams of stylists.
As mother and daughter made their surprise catwalk appearance at the grand finale to London Fashion Week, both wearing Dolce & Gabbana and millions of pounds worth of Garrard jewels, the audience - including Sting and his wife Trudie Styler and supermodels Elle Macpherson and Claudia Schiffer - applauded enthusiastically.
Another highlight of Thursday's extravaganza in aid of British flood victims, was the dramatic appearance of veteran actress Faye Dunaway in a striking one-shoulder ballgown.
Faye's royal companion on the runway had agreed to the modelling assignment as a favour to Naomi for supporting the her Children In Crisis charity. And when the lights went up the 47-year-old Duchess led the congratulations, calling her friend on stage and grasping her warmly by the hand.
