Hollywood siren Angelina Jolie, who is currently in India to film A Mighty Heart, has taken time out of her busy schedule to visit the impoverished youngsters living in a refugee camp near New Delhi. The Oscar winner brought her little boy Maddox along when she spent the afternoon chatting to Sikh children who were forced out of Afghanistan by the Taliban regime.
Angelina's new movie tells the true story of journalist Mariane Pearl, whose husband, Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel, was famously killed in Pakistan. And after meeting the boys and girls struggling to build a new life in the Indian capital, the Tinseltown bombshell said they, too, deserved to be heralded for their bravery.
"I am grateful to the refugee families who spent time with me and shared their stories," she said. "They are remarkable, courageous people. The wonderful thing that I have learned since I have been in India is that there are many needs for your own people and yet you have been so gracious and been so open to many, many refugees over the years."
The 31-year-old, who is a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations, also met with the populous nation's Junior Foreign Minister Anand Sharma. "We discussed the Indian tradition and Mahatma Gandhi's principles of peace and non-violence," revealed the politician afterwards.
