Not many girls these days are ready to tie the knot at the tender age of 19, but country singing sensation LeAnn Rimes has done just that, marrying her boyfriend of ten months, 21-year-old dancer Dean Sheremet.
That said, Mississippi-born LeAnn is not just any girl. Having won a talent contest aged five, she made her first album, All That, at the astonishing age of 11. It was released by a small independent label and quickly led on to greater things. The promising collection of country ditties was aired on local radio near LeAnn’s home in Garland, Texas, and came to the attention of Mike Curb of Nashville-based Curb Records. By 12, LeAnn was all signed up with Curb – a contract which would later be at the centre of several legal disputes – and at 13, her album Blue went multi-platinum and turned the small-town tot into a child-star phenomenon.
Things happened fast for LeAnn from then on. A music contract, stardom, vast financial rewards – in fact, all the things that most budding performers wait for until they’re, well, 19, if not for a lifetime.
By 15, LeAnn was ready for the next stage of her life to begin. She began dating actor Andrew Keegan and, according to quotes attributed to her father Wilbur Rimes, the pair were living together by the time LeAnn was 16.
