While the Grammys brought triumph to a number of artists this weekend, there was another top musician enjoying success, and she wasn't even nominated - Whitney Houston.

Stepping out onto the stage to present Jennifer Hudson with her award for best R&B album, the 45-year-old songstress wowed the audience in a striking blue and beige Zuhair Murad Resort gown, showing off her incredible legs with a daring sexy split up the thigh.

And it wasn't just her sartorial elegance that made Whitney the talk of the town. In honour of her mentor, producer Clive Davis, the star with the golden voice made her much anticipated musical comeback at a pre-Grammy gala on Saturday.

Delighting an audience including Prince, Paul McCartney and Jamie Foxx – who videoed her performance - Whitney kicked off with a powerful rendition of her signature tune, I Will Always Love You.

Another iconic musician who received a warm welcome at event, featuring sets from Leona Lewis and Kelly Clarkson, was British rocker Paul.

As his brunette love Nancy Shevell looked on proudly, the 66-year-old received a huge round of applause at the bash, which he acknowledged with his trademark thumbs-up sign.

Duffy, P Diddy and Rod Stewart were also among those enjoying the evening at the Salute to Industry Icons party held in honour of music executive Clive.
