Madonna's vulnerable side revealed in tender love notes to former bodyguard

Even someone as powerful and confident as the queen of pop has her insecurities when it comes to love. In a previously unseen billet doux written by Madonna to a former lover, the singer talks openly about being jealous.

During a relationship in the Nineties with her one-time bodyguard James Albright, she confessed: "I am feeling a bit cast out of the list of priorities in the Allbright family". "But then it's my nature to be jealous and insecure when the man in my life doesn't come running when I call for him".

Another of the letters – to be sold at auction in New York on August 5 – reveals the couple's pet names for each other. She called the hunk "Booty Man", while her lover's name for her was "Dumbo".

The depth of her passion for him is revealed when she tells him: "Your face is a work of art. I'm going to dinner. I'll think of you with every bite."

Things get even saucier in a fax sent from Brisbane where Madonna was working with the subject line "Booty Love". Signing herself "Lola", a pseudonym referring to one of her heroines, 19th-century dancer Lola Montez, she boasts of how good her "booty" looks. Then Material Girl then goes on to invite her boyfriend to visit, promising: "I'll be on my bed waiting for you".
