The Godfather of British sport, he has been the small screen’s frontman for numerous Olympics, World Cups and other major competitions for 35 years. Known as "the housewives' favourite", Des has received a plethora of awards, including male TV personality of the year and sports presenter of the year on five occasions. In 1999 he left the BBC, after three decades of service, to join rivals ITV.
