It's been a big year for sporty royal Zara Phillips, after she won a gold medal at the World Equestrian Games and was then honoured again at the Horse Of The Year show. And the pretty 25-year-old was given more reason to celebrate this week when her aunt, the Duchess of Cornwall, presented her with another piece of silverware for her growing collection.

Zara was named Equestrian Olympic Athlete of the Year at a special ceremony in Greenwich Park on Tuesday. The Prince of Wales' wife Camilla was on hand to present her with the trophy, which is sure to stand out on her mantelpiece, as it features a man throwing the discus.

The royal family's golden girl was clearly delighted as she received the gilded statuette. And there may be yet more accolades in store over the coming months, as she is thought to be a frontrunner for the title of BBC's Sports Personality Of The Year.

One prize that would outshine all the rest, however, would be a gold medal from the Olympic Games. Zara's visit to Greenwich Park gave her an opportunity to see where the equestrian events of the 2012 London Games will be staged. For the moment, however, all her attention will be focused on the competition set to take place in Beijing in two years time.
