Bill Clinton has been getting into the swing of things by taking in a round of golf on the sun-drenched island of Tenerife. The former US president, who has just completed a tour of Africa, is enjoying a break from his humanitarian efforts by unwinding on the Spanish isle. The coastline isn't only made up of sand and surf, though, as the spectacular "Los Gigantes" cliffs are also a popular tourist attraction.
Those energetic enough to climb Mount Teide, Spain's highest peak, will meanwhile be rewarded with breathtaking views over the other islands of Gran Canaria, La Palma and La Gomera. Thankfully, there is also a cable car service available for visitors who want to get to the top without breaking into a sweat.
Holiday-makers in search of late nights and revelry should head for Playa de las Americas. Built in the late Sixties, the resort is home to numerous bars and nightclubs where international party animals come to indulge in some serious merrymaking.
There is also plenty on offer for families, with the water rides and slides of Aqua Park providing an ideal day out for the kids. Also popular with youngsters is the Loro Parque aquarium which features sea-lions, dolphins, sharks and alligators. Despite the region's balmy temperatures, the centre also has the world's largest Penguinarium, where a daily snowfall of 12 tons of artificial flakes ensures its northern inhabitants stay cool.
