A Mexican getaway for Hailey and Graeme

August 10, 2012

Hailey and Graeme had spent a decade living in the same Oxfordshire town, Carterton, before they met. Both were newly-single when their eyes met across their local pub. Quite taken with each other, they exchanged numbers and met a couple of weeks later.

Graeme, 39, an RAF parachute jumping instructor, and Hailey, 34, a dental practice manager both knew they'd found someone special.

Bride Hailey had booked herself a holiday in Tenerife prior to meeting Graeme but rather than going solo, they agreed that he should join her. Meanwhile Graeme had been busy planning a romantic proposal: on their first night away he surprised Hailey with a ring whilst they were dining out. The whole restaurant shared their joy, applauding their engagement and the couple spent the rest of their time in Tenerife celebrating. Right from the beginning they were keen to become husband and wife in the near future. The couple decided on the Moon Palace in Cancun, Mexico, a luxury beachside resort and set the date for May 3, 2012. Given the short notice, only a few family members could make it to Mexico. But ten relatives attended, including Hailey's dad who flew all the way from Australia to give his daughter away.

The couple chose a white stone gazebo in the grounds of the hotel as the venue for the ceremony. Hailey and her maid of honour drew up in a white horse-drawn carriage. Afterwards, the newly-weds and their guests headed to the reception on a private golf course. They sipped on champagne underneath beautiful verandas overlooking the immaculate greens and then enjoyed a celebratory dinner. They stayed on in Cancun for another two blissful and fun weeks with their guests. Another gathering was held back at home with family and friends who couldn't make it to Mexico. Their choice of venue couldn't have been more appropriate: they chose the pub where they'd had their first date. Guests feasted on a hog roast and homemade cupcakes and lots of dancing followed. Hailey was delighted to be able to wear her dress again but most of all the couple told HELLO! Online that they were "glad to have a second chance to re-live the best day of our lives".
