David Beckham has been quite accident prone lately – he recently broke his foot during a football match, and now an off-duty police officer's car has collided into the Manchester United star’s £160,000 Mercedes.

The incident occurred last Thursday at a “blind corner” near his home in Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire, when a Ford Focus hit the England captain's car from behind. "Fans needn't worry," said a spokesman for the Becks. "It wasn't a bad car crash."

While Becks managed to emerge from the accident with nary a scrape, his car wasn’t so lucky. The luxury vehicle reportedly suffered thousands in damage, while the other car, a Ford Focus, had dents to the driver’s side and front and rear doors. Though the other driver didn't sustain injuries, reports say the cop "almost passed out with shock" when he saw who he'd hit.

The 26-year-old millionaire’s leg has been in a plaster cast since he was injured in the match with Deportivo La Coruña, but he was able to drive the automatic transmission Merc without a problem.

And while fans wait to see if Becks will be fit enough for the World Cup, they can see exactly how “fit” he is in the June issue of Marie Claire. The magazine is featuring the handsome celebrity on its cover – the first male to be featured in the coveted spot in the magazine’s 14 years.

“That’s what made me want to do it,” says David. “Because I’m the first man ever to go on the cover, I was so excited about doing the shoot.”

“When it came to putting a man on Marie Claire’s cover for the first time, there was only one candidate: David Beckham,” says the mag’s editor, Marie O’Riordan. “He represents something for every woman: father, husband, footballer, icon. In a word he’s the ultimate hero.”
