Pamela's pride as she hosts Juno awards

Pamela Anderson may have built her career on her California-style looks, but the exuberant bottle blonde calls herself a "proud Canadian" and still has a soft spot for her homeland. So the former Baywatch beauty was delighted to be invited to do the honours as the host of the Juno awards, where a line-up of world class musical talent was on offer in the city of Halifax.

Clearly thrilled to be back on home territory, Pamela was on effervescent form, opening the proceedings by promising "a silly, funny, interesting show".

She went on to poke fun at her usual scanty attire, by joking that "the Canadian music scene is bursting at the seams".

The musical entertainment kicked off with performances from the Black Eyed Peas and Coldplay, who shared the honour of being named best international artists.

One of the highlights of the ceremony came when Canadian rocker Bryan Adams was inducted into the country's Hall Of Fame. After belting out an energetic rendition of 18 till I die, the 46-year-old singer received his tribute from Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.

"I love him very much and he just hugged me backstage, which was, to be honest, arousing," the British pop star joked as he introduced a four-minute video tribute to the music icon.

Also taking to the stage was Vancouver crooner Michael Buble, who picked up three awards including best album of the year. A huge cheer went up from the crowd when he dedicated his hit single Home to "every single Canadian". "I have to tell you this song was about you," he shouted.
